Dragon-Berry Smoothie


With everything going on in the world, now is an important time to focus on our health and the wellbeing of our families and loved ones.

Dragonfruit (also known as Pitaya) is a tropical, delicious tasting cactus fruit which is wonderful for boosting your immunity and overall health. It's full of vitamin c which is critical for the immune system and thriving blood vessels. It also contains various antioxidants which help improve your quality of sleep, protect your liver, and support the respiratory system and kidneys. It's a well known fact that sleep deprivation lowers the immune system which is why it's so wonderful that dragonfruit is also high in magnesium which can aid in muscles relaxing and a more restful sleep.


Blueberries and raspberries are also very high in vitamin c and antioxidants, as well as being high in vitamin k which is important for your heart, blood and immune system.

I personally choose to add some probiotics into my smoothies for an extra boost, but this is completely optional. As I share most of my smoothies with my eldest boy, and am “sharing” the benefits through breastfeeding to my youngest, I like to take the opportunity to include foods and supplements that might otherwise be hard to get into everyday meals.


Serves 2*

Ingredients

2 Dragonfruit

2 Cups Blueberries

1 Cup Raspberries

2 Cups Water


Method

1. Cut dragonfruit and scoop out the flesh into a blender and discard the skins

2. Add the berries and water to the blender and blend until smooth - you may wish to add ice if your berries weren’t frozen or if you want to bulk up the smoothie while keeping it cold

3. Pour into your favourite glass or jar

4. Enjoy and stay safe

*Or if you’re anything like me you’ll want to drink this whole thing to yourself while pretending to share with your kids haha
